The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) as a global health issue.
🚨‼️
According to the WHO AMR is defined as “Antimicrobial resistance happens when microorganisms (such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites) change when they are exposed to antimicrobial drugs (such as antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, antimalarials, and anthelmintics). Microorganisms that develop antimicrobial resistance are sometimes referred to as “superbugs”. (WHO, “Antimicrobial resistance factsheet” 2016)
Join the global effort to reduce antimicrobial resistance so that antibiotics can continue to save lives.
